The Shadow out of Time
05:14
|
|||
In the dead of night while I slept
A dream came upon me like no other
Taken to a realm long before the counting of time
The beings there ancient before the birth of man
Strange of shape and appalling to behold
Delving into magic and form to create life anew
But the living weapons created had a will of their own
And their war lasted for eons
Then I came upon a presence
An immensely powerful evil
Come here from the stars
Enemy of the Yith
And at his command the dark creation
Established in the ocean
Ruler of R’yleh
And I came awake with a shudder
But the dream continued to haunt me
As fresh as an open wound
I could find no rest or comfort
Visions of beings who cannot possibly exist
Thrust into a dimension of knowledge
For which I was not prepared
Insanity beckons me outside the windows
I begin writing it down to try and find solace

Dagon
06:33
|
|||
I dreamed that whole hideous crawl
And yet feel the ooze sucking me down!
I am plagued by an act committed at war
I will die to end the screaming behind my ears
But I would not reach my goal
Put out to sea, drifting south
I came upon a place of rot
Seeming to be land, decaying creatures everywhere
I walked for two days
Came to the edge of a chasm
And across in the bottom stood a giant stone
An ancient place of worship
And then a vile thing drew up from the water
More horrible a sight I’d never seen
And all around in the chasm
Bulbous eyed creatures gathered in worship
I fled that place that night
Found a ship, travelled through storms
I awoke in a bed on dry land, not knowing how I’d come
What I seen
How could I process

Innsmouth
04:50
|
|||
I came to the town of Innsmouth to bury my dead
But as soon as I arrived, I knew something was amiss
It hung in the air, a strong feeling of foreboding
But what I would find, beyond all sense or reason
Bound under an oath made to keep them safe so long ago
But did they know what nightmares awaited their descendants
To become the hybrids, immortal gods of ancient seas
And they live here in secret, out here on the northern shores
At first so long ago, the town would not agree
Human sacrifice seeming so barbaric
But the Deep Ones attacked at night, and slaughtered half the town
The men fell in line, the women raped by monsters
But when I looked into my family history
I am a descendant of Innsmouth
I bear the curse of the creatures
And with this the metamorphosis begins
And I shall live forever
Deep beneath the sea

The Dunwich Horror
04:49
|
|||
Came into this world of a deformed albino mother
An unknown father, referred only to as Yog-Sothoth
He becomes a man by ten, animals despise him
Locals shun him, fearing the family bizarre
He is taught the ways of ritual black magic
He seeks the Necronomicon to open a door
Finding his families copy damaged be laments
Demanding access from the man who thwarts his attempts
There are things older than man
There are beings we will never understand
There is no kindness, no understanding in their eyes
They bring only destruction, to watch the human race die
And so the desperate mutant seeks to steal the book at last
Waiting until the night, breaking in too loudly
He draws the attack dogs who attack him without mercy
He dies with the book still out of reach
And no one remains to guard the abomination growing
On the Whateley land, hidden in plain sight
It burst from hiding, and destroyed most of Dunwich
The unseen horror, massive behemoth, son of a god
There are things older than man
There are beings we will never understand
There is no kindness, no understanding in their eyes
They bring only destruction, to watch the human race die

The Hound
03:58
|
|||
Infected with a need to desecrate
The dead remains of their fellow man
Taking trophies to mark the expeditions
The two accomplices shared their gruesome obsession
The kept an underground museum of their catches
They kept headstones, skulls, and other grisly trophies
Visions of torture and pain in statue and in painting
Bound in a portfolio made of human skin
They heard word of a grave of a man with their appetites
In Holland cemetery, buried with a powerful artifact
They traveled far and at great expense
And finally to the tomb they came
They dug for the coffin
Against the baying of a distant hound
They unearthed a strange ornate casket
A jade amulet around the ghoul’s neck
The men recognized the value, not the threat
And the horror they unleashed was unspeakable
The first man died at the hands of the unleashed horror
The second man died with a revolver to his own head

In search of knowledge, into the frozen south
Through ancient ruins, and over mountains
They uncovered things older than the moon
And of the ones found, not all were dead
The beings found too advanced for their age
They awoke and slaughtered many in such a short time
Such powerful evil trapped there under the ice
Unearthed by power hungry fools to their demise
Were they the masters, or they the slaves
Taking any form, becoming any horror
Were they the servants of the elder god Cthulhu
Or are they the ancients, the masters themselves
The monsters uncovered were not alone after all
To gaze upon the face of the unnamed horror will drive you insane

There are legends of fell things in New England
And after a great flood, strange things were seen dead in the water
Secret groups meeting to worship dark gods
One who shall put on the semblance of men, the waxen mask and the robe that hides
Not of this earth, controlling those they can
Sinister minds claiming to come in peace
There were two man who tried to uncover the truth
One was attacked, and seemed to change his view
He claimed the visitors were powerful beyond compare
And would share their knowledge with those who wish to see
Do not look in the dark for answers lest the darkness answer back
Called into the world by their own will to them we are cattle
They worship billion-year-old gods seen to rip worlds apart
Feel the cold creep down your back knowing they’re out there in the dark
Down in the shadows the unconvinced came to find an answer
He finds his friend bound and sickly, and happy to be so
Travelling across the stars is what he’s promised
But the grisly cost is far more horrifying
Flea in terror at the discovery of the lies
Tremble with fear at the horror just witnessed

The Haunter of the Dark
03:44
|
|||
Having become infatuated with the distorted and deranged
Searching through architectures which should’ve staying buried
Bearing witness to the impossible engraved upon the surface
Depicting beings come from nightmares not of our world
You should meddle in the affairs of sleeping gods
Awakened from its slumber, the unthinkable incarnate
Accidental summoning speaks an early grave
Run and hide, cower in fear
And the creature only attacks under darkness
Biding its time, with maddening patience
It waits to find the man who brought him to this realm
He will die for opening the door
A terrible storm came through that night
The lights flicker, as the people pray that they’ll stay on
And in the final minutes, the light failed
The ghoul biding his time taking advantage
Swiftly through the dark he found him
Over too fast, no one saw it happen
The found him dying near the window
His last words begged to Yog-Sothoth
