lyrics

In my 13th winter, long into the snows
I made a discovery, awful and amazing
I crept so quietly, that day in the forest
To see the weirding one, to glimpse the witch
I wished to know her secrets, I wished to see the wonders
But that day in the woods, I was proven foolish
I crept up on the black shape, hunched over in the path
And when into my eyes it looked I knew that I had been wrong

I fled back through the forest
Crying from what I had seen
For under that hood in the path
There was no witch
What stared back at me through eight bulbous eyes
There are not names for the creature I witnessed
It spoke a word in a tongue I did not know
And I’ve been sick of body and mind ever since
